Generation Schools’ Golden Thread Challenge
In this leadership team building case study, we helped unite leaders across campuses with a bespoke GPS Challenge
When Generation Schools brought together Heads of Departments and Campus Heads from six campuses for a full-day leadership conference, they wanted more than another workshop or panel discussion. They wanted an experience that would unite their leaders, break down silos, and inspire collaboration.
That’s where the Golden Thread Challenge came in, an app-powered team building activity designed to connect people and bring the school’s vision to life.
The Brief:
Inspiring Leadership Connections
Generation Schools invited leadership from across six campuses to participate in an activity aligned with the conference theme: Inspiring Our Leaders in Changing Education: From Start to Profession.
The aim was simple but ambitious:

The Solution:
The Golden Tread Challenge
To bring the conference theme to life, we designed a bespoke GPS-based activity called The Golden Thread Challenge.

The Golden Thread Concept: Each leader reflected on what the “Golden Thread” meant to them – connecting goals, values, and vision to everyday leadership.

Custom GPS Treasure Hunt: Using the scenic Krystal Beach Hotel and beachfront, teams explored GPS hotspots to unlock challenges and clues.

Interactive Team Tasks: Challenges included Generation Schools trivia, problem-solving, and playful photo and video tasks.

Immersive Environment: The setting created space for meaningful conversations, laughter, and authentic connection.
The Result:
A Lasting Leadership Impact
The Golden Thread Challenge was a resounding success:
